Fish Our Tournament Lakes
It is not surprising that avid anglers flock to the 9 Lakes Region to fish. With two of the top bass lakes in the country, and waters that have yielded state records for muskie, black crappie, and brown trout, this region is a “bucket list” destination for fishing in the Southeast. In spring 2019, the FLW Tour and the Geico Bassmaster Classic will be bringing professional fisherman from across the country to fish. Each day will provide an opportunity for fans to learn from the best of the best.
2019 Professional Tournaments
A leg of the FLW Tour will be held at Cherokee Lake on April 11-14, 2019. The boats will launch daily from the TVA recreation area at Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City. A daily expo beginning at 2 pm and weigh-in at 3 pm will also be held at the dam. Cherokee Lake is rated number twelve lake for bass fishing in the country, and is also a popular tournament lake for local and regional competitions.
The Geico Bassmaster Classic will be held on the Lake Loudoun and Tellico Lake portion of the Tennessee River on March 15-17, 2019. Known as the “super bowl” of bass fishing, the event pits 52 of the best anglers for a share of the one million dollar prize purse. A daily expo will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center. The weigh- ins will be held at Thompson Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus. This event is a family friendly event in a city with plenty of great activities to enjoy.
Plan your trip now and take a day (or two) to fish on your own. March and April are prime months for fishing in East Tennessee. With over 3500 miles of shoreline and 9 Lakes to fish, find your favorite location or try a new reservoir to test your skills.
