Help Keep our Lakes Clean!
Every spring, groups organize clean-ups across the region to pick up the shorelines of the 9 Lakes. On Saturday March 24, The Norris Lake Project partners and volunteers will be teaming up with Beach Island Marina, Hickory Star Marina, Norris Landing, Flat Hollow Marina, Indian River Resort Marina, Whitman Hollow Marina, Powell Valley Resort for the 8th biannual Five County Norris Lake Cleanup of the islands and shorelines on Norris Lake. Norris Lake is recognized as premier vacation destination and is a favorite for recreational boaters and campers. Visit the project website
Over in Cocke County, volunteers will also be working on Saturday, March 24 to remove litter from Douglas Lake, one of the 100 Best Bass Lakes in the country. The lake sits in the shadows of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and hosts many national and regional fishing tournaments. To learn more about this event click here
These clean-ups serve to protect the beauty of the lakes. We welcome our visitors and hope that each of you will practice the principles of Leave No Trace while visiting our wonderful waterways and public lands.
