9 Lakes
May 3 to May 9 Marks National Travel and Tourism Week
National Travel and Tourism week has traditionally marked a time for travel and tourism professionals to celebrate the impact of their work on local economies and communities. While COVID 19 has affected every tourism partner in the 9 Lakes Region, the spirit and passion of these individuals need to be recognized. No other industry in Tennessee has suffered the percentage of job losses as has the Hospitality Industry.
Small businesses are at the core of tourism. We applaud those that have been able to adapt as conditions have changed, and those that have recognized that the safety of the greater good is more important than risking the health of their guests and employees.
The 9 Lakes Region is known for being at the forefront of many historic firsts. From early frontier days to super computers, change is always a constant. It is the resiliency and adaptability of the tourism professionals that will be at the forefront of when it is time to get “back to travel.”
During National Travel and Tourism week, join METTC in honoring our tourism partners – Adventure Anderson County, Explore Oak Ridge, Visit Knoxville, Visit Loudon County, Smoky Mountain Tourism, Campbell County Chamber, Monroe County Tourism, Claiborne Partnership, Morgan County Tourism Alliance, Cocke County Partnership, Roane Alliance, Grainger County Chamber, Union County Chamber, Visit Morristown, Visit My Smokies, Vacation Jefferson County, Gatlinburg CVB, Hickory Star Marina, Beach Island Resort and Marina, What’s Up Ballooning, City of Farragut, City of Sweetwater, Print Distribution Service, and Blue Ridge County magazine for all that they do.
